The UK remains at the very top of the global rankings for open data

The UK remains at the very top of the global rankings for open data, says the third edition of the Open Data Barometer. While the government’s commitment to open data should be applauded, the report notes that the rate of progress on open data has slowed, “signalling that new political will and momentum may be needed as more difficult elements of open data are tackled.” It is so important that the government presses ahead with freeing of data. More open data makes it possible for stakeholders in the economy to identify scale-ups. Freeing data is the most important thing that government can do to help scale-ups.
