Listen to this podcast from Andy Bounds of the FT, which features Minister for Small Business Margot James MP and Scaleup Institute chair Sherry Coutu. It also includes insights from Susannah Lawson, founder of Manchester-based scaleup One File, on her participation in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme.
The podcast accompanies a feature article which focuses on the impact of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme. The article cites the assessment of the 933 companies who graduated from the programme in 2010-15 which found they outperformed their peers.
“They were twice as likely to increase turnover, at an average rate of 81 per cent per year, and three times as likely to create new jobs, increasing employment at 31 per cent per year on average. More than 70 per cent of participants sought external financing following the programme, which is four times higher than all UK small businesses.”
