Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

GCGP plays host to a number of high-quality programmes for scaleups. The School for Scaleups supported by the Cambridge Network gives businesses the benefits of collaborative learning with peers and mentors inside and outside their own company, so they can exchange ideas on management challenges and opportunities. The Babraham Research Campus is a connected community for businesses in the life sciences sector that combines flexible working space with comprehensive support programmes. The Bradfield Centre in partnership with Cambridge University is providing space for scaleups in the technology sectors and is developing a scaleup offering.

In July 2019 the Business Board which has replaced the LEP published its Local Industrial Strategy in which a priority for action was to deliver integrated approaches to business support, ensuring businesses have the access to the right kind of space and growth coaching as well as supporting networks. Partners have been invited to bid for funding to help achieve this.

The region also intends to build upon the clusters and networks, as seen through the Cambridge Cluster Map, that have enabled Cambridge to become a global leader in innovative growth. The Combined Authority has committed to fund an Innovation Launchpad facility, or facilities, offering new locations to support the development of innovation ecosystems.
