Barclays Eagle Labs is an entrepreneurial network fostering innovation and growth for ambitious startup and scaleup businesses across the UK. Designed to connect the UK’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through mentoring, educational support, physical spaces for co-working, access to experts and a wide range of tailored programmes for scaling businesses at all stages.
Eagle Labs helps to push positive change in key industries by bringing together thought leaders, industry bodies, key corporates, academics and startups to provide them with the tools, knowledge and connections to collaborate and innovate. Dedicated teams support key sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technology, climate and nature innovation, digital security, games and creative, life sciences and health tech.
Eagle Labs has supported 50 scaleups through two scaleup programmes in the past year. A further 1070 participants have benefited from funding readiness support, 1869 mentoring sessions have been held and 38 businesses have increased their exposure to international markets and funding through the Global Connect programme. In addition, there’s a national network of 35 sites across the UK offering founders co-working facilities and support from a dedicated Ecosystem Manager.
Eagle Labs is focused on championing diversity in entrepreneurship. The Black Founder Accelerator supported 25 entrepreneurs this year and a further 20 benefited from the Black Venture Growth programme focused on promoting growth and removing barriers to fundraising. The Female Founder Accelerator supports innovative female-led technology companies through a combination of masterclasses, mentoring, networking and specialist tech build clinics. This year, 100 female entrepreneurs completed this programme.
In 2022, the UK government awarded Barclays a £12 million Digital Growth Grant (DGG) to deliver support services to the digital sector over a two-year period from April 2023. In its first year of funding, the activity has supported over 1,000 participants through national growth programmes delivered by core partners targeting businesses at all stages of growth. The innovative Ecosystem Partnership Programme provided matched funding to 12 organisations across the UK, helping them to deliver activities to support tech businesses, addressing regional ecosystem challenges. A total of £4.791 billion in lifetime funding* has been raised by Eagle Labs members, participants, and alumni.
