Describing itself as “a distributed, global company,” Index Ventures is an international venture capital firm with dual headquarters in San Francisco and London. It invests in technology-enabled businesses, with a focus on sectors including e-commerce, fintech, mobility, gaming, infrastructure and AI, and security.

Between 2018 and June 2025, the fund participated in 77 fundraisings for 49 UK-based companies. Their average turnover was £188m with an average of 294 employees.

In 2025, Index Ventures has continued to invest in companies such as Wordsmith, a firm that develops an AI-based tool designed to assist legal teams wherein Index Ventures led a funding round worth £18.5m, and Arondite, a firm that develops AI cybersecurity software wherein Index Ventures led a funding round worth £7.50m.

Index Ventures have also consistently supported scaleups such as Birdie, a firm that developed an online tool and mobile app allowing users to book and manage at-home care services, and Codat, a firm that develops an API that allows developers to integrate financial systems into their business’s product.

In July 2024, Index Ventures raised $2.3 billion in new funds, bringing its total capital to $15 billion and reinforcing its role as a leading global investor in high-growth firms. With over 108 unicorns backed and 57 IPOs, including companies such as Revolut, DeepL and Wiz, the firm continues to expand its support for scaling businesses in the UK and Europe, particularly across digital, AI and fintech sectors.

In terms of new deals, Index co-led a $250 million Series C round for AI inference infrastructure company Fireworks AI, reflecting its ongoing focus on the next generation of data and AI-driven platforms.

The firm also produces Index Resources, comprising guides, podcasts, plans and playbooks for companies seeking to expand into the US and Europe, as well as a guide to stock options for rewarding talent.
