Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

Coast to Capital has recently launched an Escalator Programme for selected scaling businesses. Alongside the regular facilitated cohort monthly meetings, subject experts were used as specific needs were identified by the cohorts and extra workshops created around common barriers to growth such as the current funding landscape, raising finance and preparing a business for sale.

Members were also offered several diagnostics tools used by C2C and appointed an Account Manager to share the results along with some free expert interventions. The Escalator programme has been so successful 75% of the members have elected to stay on for an Alumni extension of the peer-to-peer method.

Scaleup Views

The key barriers to growth are access to UK markets, access to talent and access to infrastructure/premises and broadband. They are looking for support through growth hubs, peer networks, local professional services and banks and other financial suppliers.

A new round of the Escalator Programme will be launched later this year potentially with specific cohorts to include women leaders, innovation businesses and pre-scaleup companies.
