Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

Cumbrian scaleups can obtain diagnostic and expert support through Growth Catalyst, delivered by the LEP’s local partner, the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce. This package provides a 1:1 health check, specialist tailored advice and business workshops to help businesses identify ways of growing and becoming more productive.

Two new no-cost programmes have been introduced to support SMEs with up to 250 employees to develop and grow their businesses and are now recruiting participants. The Business Support and Advice Programme (BSAP) provides up to 3 hours of advice and support, specifically targeted at the needs of the business and covering issues from sources of funding and international trade to sales and marketing as well as skills and leadership development.

The national Peer Networks programme will be delivered locally by a number of advisory organisations bringing together a wide range of business leaders to work on real issues facing today’s businesses and building leadership capabilities as well as offering networking opportunities to strengthen relationships across the business community.

The LEP has been developing a Recovery Plan for Cumbria that responds to needs identified by the sectors . The Recovery Plan titled ‘Restart, Reboot, Rethink: A Plan for Cumbria’s Economic Recovery highlights six key themes for the county's path back to growth based on existing strengths: Clean Energy Production, Diversify to Thrive, The New Visitor Experience,The Future of Food, Cumbria – the UK’s Natural Capital, The Way We Live, The Way We Work Now In addition to these major themes, the LEP will be delivering direct support to businesses through its business support programme, Peer Networks and Cumbria Growth Catalyst, with the focus on helping them at grow and scale.
