Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

Dorset LEP is continuing its scale-up programme with Smith & Williamson. Aimed at directors, owners and CEOs, it offers a tailored package of support to help individual businesses devise an action plan for growth under themes such as: creating the foundations for growth, operating effectively at scale; attracting & retaining talent; and raising finance & choosing funding options for growth. The programme offers a limited number of high-growth or potential high- growth SME’s the opportunity to access funded support from specialist advisers outside the programme.
The fully-funded Bid Writing Support Service helped local businesses win more than £1m of competitive government grant funding – primarily Innovate UK funding – in 2020/21. The success of the service has led to the continuation of the service with an enhanced service on offer to those businesses who are scaling or can demonstrate high-growth potential. The LEP is also piloting a funded package of Innovation Design Support in partnership with Arts University Bournemouth which has already run two European-funded innovation support programmes aimed at helping local high-growth potential SMEs.
