Scottish Enterprise’s Unlocking Ambition Challenge (UA) is Scotland’s flagship entrepreneurial growth programme supporting ambitious scaling business leaders through investment, innovation and exporting, with a particular focus on Net Zero transition. Scaleups can access finance through Scottish Enterprise’s investment funds. In 2021/22 SE invested in 107 early stage and scaleup businesses. In the leadership and capacity development front, The Hunter Foundation’s Scale-up Scotland is a leadership programme aimed at firms to scale beyond £20-£30 million. Another executive education programme delivered by Strathclyde University since 2015 is the Growth Advantage Programme. Past patricipan scaleups have created 233 jobs and increased turnover by £25.7m. Principally Women is a capacity development programme specifically aimed at innovation driven women-led scaling enterprises. For improving access to talent HIE’s Technology Placement Programme is promoting graduates or student recruitment to undertake technology projects.
