Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

A number of initiatives exist to support Tees Valley scaleups. Tees Valley Business is a one-stop shop for all business growth support and funding, including its own Growth Fund grant programmes which offer up 55% in support of eligible projects. It works with a range of local partners that offer support across a broad spectrum of areas from scale-up, start-up and funding and finance through to technical assistance with product development and innovation. Teeside University has pioneered a Grow Tees Valley which starts with advisers working with ambitious businesses on a detailed business diagnostic and then sign-posting them to targeted support or referring them to a network of business support providers. A Growth Spark voucher scheme supports up to 50% of the cost If businesses come with a project in mind the advisers will assess its potential and draw up an action plan with the entrepreneur. Scaling businesses also have access to the Growth Associate Programme which lets them tap into the University’s graduates to deliver a pre-set work plan.
