Local LEP ScaleUp Programmes

A number of programmes and incubators operate in the LEP area, including the locally-delivered Business West Scaleup Hub, SETSquared Scaleup Programme, Scaleup4Growth and Shaw & Co. Funding Academy which has run two cohorts. Businesses on the West of England Combined Authority Creative Sector Growth Programme brings cohorts of 10 businesses together regularly over six months of intensive support including a £3,000 grant to spend on mentoring, a dedicated peer support network and business development training. Applications for the Spring 2022 cohort are now open.
The Business Innovation Fund supports businesses from a wide range of sectors to help develop innovative projects and products. They receive grants of £20,000 or £50,000 to invest in innovation and guidance to move from concept to commercialisation as well as opportunities to collaborate with the region’s leading research institutions and advice on intellectual property, testing and research and development roadmaps. Local scaleups can also access the Investment Activator Programme, led by TechSPARK and WECA’s Creative Scaleup Programme.

A 3,000 sq ft former stationary warehouse is opening in Bristol to create an incubator for deep tech companies. Alongside this the West of England Combined Authority and Science Creates Ventures have launched a £13.5m Fund to help unlock growth for Bristol companies.
