Worcestershire’s technology accelerator BetaDen has been further developed to give specialist support to potential high-growth businesses. Co-located with one the UK’s first 5G testbeds at the Malvern Hills Science Park, it gives businesses a platform to develop next-generation technology. BetaDen also offers potential high-growth businesses a package of support including free office space, mentoring programmes and funding.
An ongoing programme of tech talks is aimed at building the technology ecosystem, evolving new opportunities and increasing digital adoption. This is complemented by the facilitation of links between academia and business. This allows local businesses access to valuable insights and cutting-edge research as well expertise to support the move from concept to commercialisation. The academia link also provides access to next generation talent.

Worcestershire will continue to develop ithel BetaDen programme, working with industry and academic partners and recruitment for the fifth cohort beginning in December 2021. Test bed service nexGworx will allow local scaleups to test products and services over 5G and to understand the productivity gains 5G brings. In addition, new pilots for investment and finance support are in the pipeline.
