Describing itself as a “global partnership to work with the most innovative companies,” Accel is a prominent early and growth-stage venture capital firm, investing in technology-led businesses across the US, Europe, and India. With established offices in San Francisco, London, and Bangalore, the firm provides active hands-on support to its portfolio—helping companies to hire senior leaders, expand into new markets, and provide introductions to new customers.

Between 2018 and June 2025, the fund participated in 74 fundraisings for 46 UK-based companies. Their average turnover was £106m with 226 employees.

Accel, operating from its long-standing London office, continues to be a major investor in the UK and European tech ecosystem. Their recent UK activity has targeted key areas like AI, cybersecurity, and fintech. Specific recent UK investments in scaleups include Carwow, a price comparison website company, and the rapidly growing digital bank Monzo.

Accel has been characterised by continued strategic investment in high-growth enterprise technology, often focusing on private equity-backed buyouts and software. A notable transaction involved Accel-KKR (a separate, but related, technology-focused investment firm) acquiring a majority stake in UK-based home care management software provider CareLineLive in a deal to accelerate its growth and geographical expansion. Accel has also backed the AI firm Synthesia. Internationally, Accel has been significantly focused on early-stage Indian deep-tech and AI startups. They recently partnered with Prosus to co-invest in ventures joining Accel’s Atoms X program, which targets “LeapTech” companies focused on breakthrough technologies like advanced manufacturing, energy transition, and AI-led automation.
