Beringea is a transatlantic venture capital firm investing in the UK, Europe, and the USA, with a focus on sectors including healthcare, cleantech, consumer, media, business services, and technology. In the UK and EU, it typically makes initial investments between £1 million and £10 million into companies with at least £1 million in turnover, often leading Series A or Series B rounds, with further funding available for follow-on investments. As of October 2024, Beringea manages more than $900 million across its UK and US funds, including approximately £330 million in UK-based Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs). In the UK, Beringea manages three VCTs, notably ProVen VCT and ProVen Growth and Income VCT, which together oversee over £330 million in assets across 53 portfolio companies

In 2023 and 2024, Beringea remained a prominent venture capital firm in the UK, focusing on scaling high-growth businesses across various sectors, including consumer goods, technology, and sustainability. In 2023, Beringea led several key investments, including a £4.6 million investment in scaling business MOTH, the UK’s leading premium canned cocktail brand, which is set to expand both domestically and internationally

Recent investments into scaleups in its portfolio include the fintech company AccessPay, the healthtech platform Doctify and the psychometric assessment platform Arctic Shores. 

The average turnover of companies supported by Beringea in the period between January 2017 to June 2024 was £21.6m and the average number of employees was 70.

The firm runs its own Scaleup Academy, an annual programme of events and training to help the leadership teams of its portfolio companies overcome barriers to scale, and emphasises its capabilities in assisting the transatlantic expansion strategies of its portfolio companies.

Beringea has been a leading figure in the creation of ESG_VC, an industry initiative it co-founded and continues to chair, supporting early-stage companies to measure, monitor, and improve their performance across key ESG metrics. The initiative now includes over 125 venture firms across the UK, US, and Europe and provides a standardised framework of 48 metrics for benchmarking ESG performance. The firm has also been accredited at Level 2 in the Diversity VC Standard—the highest available—recognising its adoption of best practice in diversity and inclusion across its operations. As of August 2022, 42 per cent of Beringea’s UK investment team and 40 per cent of its UK investment committee were women, with a continued focus on nurturing diverse talent and improving representation across the venture ecosystem.
