BGF is the largest and most experienced growth capital investor in the UK and Ireland. Since 2011, it has invested over £4.7 billion in more than 600 companies, backing ambitious businesses with patient, minority-only capital.

BGF typically invests £3-30 million in growth-stage companies and £3-10 million in early-stage businesses. With an evergreen balance sheet, BGF takes a long-term, non-controlling approach, enabling ambitious management teams to access the funding and strategic support they need to scale.

In 2025, BGF announced plans to deploy £3 billion of growth capital into UK businesses over the next five years — a decisive move to increase investment into high-potential companies across the country.

As part of the £3 billion pledge, BGF is committing at least £300 million to the Invest in Women Taskforce’s funding pot to support scaling female-powered businesses, highlighting BGF’s commitment to supporting more diverse leadership in the UK’s growth economy.

A regional-first investor, BGF employs 200 people across 15 cities, with 74% of its capital deployed outside London and the South East. Since 2011, portfolio companies have generated £7.1 billion in revenue growth, £1 billion in export growth, and created 27,000 new jobs.

Recent investments include a £15 million backing for Nottingham-based software business, Cronofy alongside multi-million-pound deals for Northern Ireland’s female-led care provider, CWC Group and Peterborough-based fire suppression equipment manufacturer, Rapidrop.

BGF has delivered strong realisations for its portfolio companies. Successful exits include BGF’s largest ever return at a10x money multiple and 69% IRR for global MedTech business, OrganOx. In addition, BGF recently completed the landmark exit from green tech pioneer Monodraught which generated an 11x money multiple and 37.5% IRR.

BGF’s Value Creation team of 10 professionals works closely with portfolio companies to unlock long-term value, offering access to one of the UK and Ireland’s most extensive networks of business leaders, operational specialists and sector experts. This combination of patient, minority capital and hands-on support aims to help ambitious companies to accelerate growth, navigate complexity and build resilience, while contributing to stronger, more sustainable financial performance.

Through BGF’s recently launch Scale programme and platform, portfolio companies benefit from being part of the BGF community, with curated events, knowledge-sharing platforms, networking opportunities and the support of the BGF team.

BGF has been recognised as a B Corp UK, reinforcing its commitment to delivering a positive impact on the businesses and communities that it supports.
