Eight Roads provides venture and growth-stage capital to technology and healthcare companies in the scaleup phase. With roots dating back to 1969 as Fidelity Ventures, it is headquartered in London and operates from offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai, Tokyo, Hamilton, Boston and Stockholm. The firm invests across Europe, the US, India, Japan and China.
Between 2018 and June 2025, the fund participated in 27 fundraisings for 19 UK-based companies. Their average turnover was £134m with an average of 409 employees.
Some of the scaleups within Eight Road Ventures’ portfolio include Mention Me, a software developer firm that implements a refer-a-friend business model for companies and SenseOn, a software developer that utilises machine learning to automate and analyse intelligence for the purposes of cybersecurity.
In 2025, Eight Roads Ventures has continued to evolve its global footprint and investment strategy. The firm executed a significant strategy shift, announcing in June that it would exit its portfolio of about 40 Chinese technology startups, citing geopolitical risk and reinvestment priorities. Additionally, in July the firm sold stakes in three of its portfolio companies, Whatfix, Shadowfax and MoEngage, via a $50 million secondary deal to TR Capital. These moves reflect a strong repositioning of the firm toward investor returns through exits and portfolio optimisation, alongside a recalibration of regional focus.
The firm says that it backs founders “with high conviction” and is selective about the number of investments it makes. Its principal investment team takes a patient capital approach which it says is appropriate for the long development times for healthcare companies, particularly in therapeutics. It offers guidance on a range of topics such as building sales teams, accessing new export markets through its online platform and also hosts international market events for portfolio companies.
