It has backed 21 UK companies since 2017 with the great majority being into London-based companies. Scaleups in which it has invested include logistics AI company Raft and remote surgical technology company Proximie.
In 2024, Eight Roads Ventures continued to make significant strides in both the tech and healthcare sectors, managing over $8 billion in assets across global offices. This year, the firm made key investments, such as Spry Therapeutics in October, along with notable exits like Bicara Therapeutics and Northern Arc Capital, which went public in September 2024. Eight Roads has backed around 699 companies globally, with 44 companies successfully going public and 86 being acquired.
Their 2024 investments included significant funding rounds like $125 million for Whatfix, and $157 million for Engrail Therapeutics. Eight Roads continues to focus on innovative companies, particularly in enterprise software, health tech, and fintech, further strengthening its position as a leading global VC
The firm says that it backs founders “with high conviction” and is selective about the number of investments it makes. Its principal investment team takes a patient capital approach which it says is appropriate for the long development times for healthcare companies, particularly in therapeutics. It offers guidance on a range of topics such as building sales teams, accessing new export markets through its online platform and also hosts international market events for portfolio companies.
