The MIT Venture Mentoring Service (MIT VMS) provides team-based mentorship to entrepreneurs across a broad range of industries, supporting them at various stages of their business journey. Based on the principles of confidentiality, conflict-free guidance, and practical experience, the programme connects founders with experienced mentors who help shape their growth strategies.
Over the past year, VMS has continued to expand its impact, with its mentor network now exceeding 190 experienced mentors, guiding more than 2,900 ventures and over 3,600 participating entrepreneurs. These businesses have collectively raised approximately US$9 billion in external financing and launched over 400 ventures, demonstrating the programme’s role in accelerating business success.
Beyond MIT, the VMS model has been adopted globally, with 124 organisations in 28 countries now implementing their own mentoring programmes based on its principles. The initiative continues to scale internationally, reinforcing its value in driving entrepreneurial growth.
In support of its mission, VMS has established itself within the MIT Innovation HQ, a collaborative hub designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. This dynamic space provides opportunities for networking, peer learning, and deeper engagement between mentors and mentees.
Through structured, conflict-free guidance, MIT VMS remains a powerful asset for entrepreneurs looking to develop their businesses with the insight and expertise of highly experienced mentors.
