Newable Ventures (originally London Business Angels) backs entrepreneurs with a network of more than 500 early angel investors. The network invests via its own EIS evergreen fund, curating syndicates and engaging with co-investment partners. Focusing on early stage and scaling businesses in medtech, AI, space, robotics and industrial technologies.

Between January 2017 and June 2024, Newable has participated in 44 fundraisings, supporting 35 UK-based companies. 29% of its investments in UK companies have been at growth stage. The average amount invested is £1.84m. Scaleups that it has backed include Q-Bot, Hummingbird Technologies, Threads Styling, and Media Sense.

Newable has introduced three scale-up funds, one of which is the Newable Scale-up Fund 3. This fund addresses the financing gap faced by companies that have mitigated technology risks, gained customer traction, and now require funding to expand their commercial operations. It offers investors a diversified portfolio of seven to ten qualifying companies per investment.

Scale-up businesses can benefit from a wide range of support services provided by a team of business and innovation advisers. These services include assistance with business model innovation—helping to develop and implement models that are new to the firm—along with support for advancing new products or services, refining digital strategies, and achieving sales and growth goals. Additional support is available for Intellectual Property awareness and commercialisation, securing further funding (such as grants and other investors), investment readiness, and pitch preparation. Businesses can also receive advice on accessing international markets, including the creation of tailored export growth action plans, market insights, connections with overseas buyers and partners, participation in trade fairs, and specific programmes for female-led and diverse founders.
