Recently endorsed by the ScaleUp Institute, Scale Space White City is a dynamic scaleup community in the heart of the White City Innovation District, offering 200,000 sq ft of lab and office space alongside state-of-the-art conference and event facilities.

Scale Space is a joint venture between Imperial College London, STEMB university, and Blenheim Chalcot. Its mission is to unlock the potential of UK innovation by helping member businesses scale, achieved by connecting them to talent, networks, markets and infrastructure, and by leveraging the assets and networks of its venture partners.

It also strengthens its environment through a broad community mix spanning entrepreneurs, corporate innovators, venture builders, investors, academics and students, supported by value-driven programmes, curated events and targeted connections that enhance collaboration and help accelerate business growth.

The community at Imperial’s White City Deep Tech Campus also incorporates member businesses based at I-HUB, a 188,000 sq ft facility just a three-minute walk away. Together, Scale Space and I-HUB host more than 100 early-stage and scaling businesses and corporates across health and life sciences, digital, AI, environmental and security sectors. Corporates include Saab UK Innovation Hub, Endress+Hauser and BASF, together with research organisations and innovation partners including the George Institute for Global Health, NATO DIANA and Undaunted, a hub for the UK’s climate innovation community.

Within Scale Space, the Imperial Incubator provides a first home for early-stage lab-based scaling businesses, offering move-in-ready labs, shared facilities and tailored guidance. Since 2016, the Incubator has supported 59 scaling companies, helping them secure over £622 million in funding and create more than 600 jobs. Notable scaleups include Ki Hydrogen, MediSieve, Puraffinity, and Zihipp which have since graduated and grown into larger spaces within Scale Space.

Scale Space also fosters leadership and talent development through initiatives such as the Imperial White City Internship Fund, which offers financial support to member companies to hire Imperial interns for growth projects (24 internships supported in 2025), and the annual Scale Space Careers Fair, which connects more than 350 students and graduates with member companies each year. Executive Education programmes delivered in partnership with Imperial Business School have provided training to more than 40 founders and senior leaders in areas including AI, sustainability and venture finance.

To strengthen leadership capacity and peer learning, the Leaders’ Networking Series and Life Sciences Roundtables bring together founders, C-suite executives, academics, industry experts and local government to share challenges and foster collaboration. Access to finance is supported through VC engagement, Series A readiness sessions with KPMG and Deep Tech Investor Panels. Member businesses have raised more than £365 million from 2023 to September 2025, alongside 132 grants worth £47.1 million.

Scale Space’s infrastructure includes flexible serviced offices and wet laboratories, multiple hybrid event spaces such as a 180-seat conference venue, a recording studio, a multi-use sports space and access to more than 350 pieces of specialist equipment across Imperial’s White City Deep Tech Campus.

With average annual growth of 65% in net assets, 42% in employment and 33% in turnover among its member companies, Scale Space has established itself as one of the UK’s most successful innovation and growth ecosystems. Recognised as Incubator/Co-Working Space of the Year at the West London Business Awards in 2024 and 2025, it continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the UK’s scaleup economy.
