The Family Business Index
As we celebrate Family Business week, the 2022 Family Scaleup Index puts a spotlight on the family scaleups who have broken through the £10.2m turnover or £5.1m asset barrier. From our 2022 Scaleup Index, we identify 503 visible family scaleups, servicing a range of our day to day needs, contributing £19.4bn to the UK economy and employing more than 165k people. These are across all sectors and regions of the UK with 8 in 10 sitting outside of London and the South East and 7% operating in the green economy. They are long-lasting scaleups – 6 in 10 have been trading for more than 15 years with an average turnover of £39m – with four centurions and one nonagenarian amongst them. May they continue to scale long and prosper.
