Automated Analytics: Pioneering AI-Driven Insights for Global Impact
Automated Analytics was founded in 2013 by Mark Taylor, CEO and leader with a deep background in business analytics. The idea was sparked during Mark’s tenure as Commercial Director at Nationwide Autocentres, where he spearheaded the sale of the business to Halfords. Sitting in a garage one day, listening to a customer booking an MOT, Mark began thinking about how to track and optimise that revenue. The result was Automated Analytics – a company dedicated to closing the data gap between online actions and offline conversions.
From Lead Generation to Cutting-Edge AI-Powered Speech Analytics
Originally, Automated Analytics served as a lead generator for brands like Mr Electric, HomeServe, and Europcar, but the company was already developing proprietary technology to bridge the crucial gap between online clicks and real-world conversions.
By 2018, Automated Analytics had launched its first AI-powered speech analytics software, revolutionising customer engagement by automatically recording, transcribing, and categorising every customer call. With no need for human monitoring, businesses could access actionable insights in real-time, including call motives, call outcomes, and valuable data on which search keywords or marketing channels were driving conversions.
As the technology matured, Automated Analytics expanded into the talent acquisition space. The platform now enables companies to track every stage of the hiring process, leveraging programmatic bidding models to reduce recruitment costs. This functionality has positioned the company as a valuable asset across industries seeking to optimise performance and save on advertising.
Today, Automated Analytics serves over 5,000 clients in the UK and the U.S, with upcoming expansions focused on Europe and the Middle East. By establishing itself as a global leader in AI-driven analytics, the company has transformed customer interactions into meaningful data for some of the world’s most recognizable brands.
Embracing AI Early and Overcoming Challenges
Automated Analytics’ journey hasn’t been without challenges. One of the early obstacles was demonstrating the tangible impact of AI to sceptical clients. For instance, one client believed it was impossible to lower their cost per application below £13; after implementing Automated Analytics’ solutions, they were achieving applications for £1.78, along with a threefold increase in volume – all within 48 hours.
Since 2021, Maven Capital has been a committed investment partner, initially backing the company with £1.65 million to drive growth and later supporting its expansion in the U.S.
When entering this new market, the initial goal was to onboard 20 clients in three months. Instead, Automated Analytics saw a phenomenal response, signing 3,500 clients in just 48 hours. This rapid growth presented logistical challenges, which the company swiftly addressed to meet increased demand.
Navigating Economic and Regulatory Uncertainty
As a global AI company, Automated Analytics actively monitors key economic indicators, especially those affecting growth in the UK and U.S such as employment rates, interest rates, and inflation. A significant concern, however, is the UK’s stance on AI regulation.
While Mark advocates for an industry-driven regulatory approach, he emphasises the need for a balanced framework to guide companies responsibly. In response, Automated Analytics has engaged with policymakers to lead on this issue and is set to unveil its self-regulation framework for AI at the Houses of Parliament on December 11, with cross-party support.
Driving 100%+ Growth and Cultivating Key Relationships
With organisations increasingly embracing AI, Automated Analytics anticipates sustained annual growth of over 100% as it expands in the UK and U.S. markets. Despite holding less than 1% of the market share, Automated Analytics sees enormous potential to broaden its client base and capitalise on the growing trust in AI.
Beyond client acquisition, Automated Analytics is actively forging strategic partnerships that extend its influence in both the tech and local communities. Through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Sheffield, the company has achieved technical advancements that continue to enhance its AI capabilities. Additionally, Automated Analytics is working with Doncaster Council, Doncaster College, and the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce to establish a Centre of Excellence for AI in Doncaster. The company has become the first tenant of Doncaster’s Gateway Building, a tech hub in South Yorkshire, underscoring its commitment to regional innovation.
Expanding AI Solutions in the Public Sector
As an early adopter of AI technology, Automated Analytics is now pioneering pilot programmes within the public sector, covering areas such as recruitment, student marketing, and social care call analysis. These initiatives hold the potential to significantly reduce social care costs and improve public sector efficiency.
Mark Taylor and the team are well-positioned to continue Automated Analytics’ impressive growth trajectory, both by capturing new markets and by establishing a robust foundation for responsible AI in partnership with government and industry stakeholders alike. The company’s journey from lead generation to global AI leadership is a testament to its commitment to innovation, resilience, and the transformative power of data-driven insights.
